I hate that exclamation mark... it's like their band was so mediocre that they had to add the exclamation mark just to kind of seem "edgy" ... yeaaahhh I don't think it works.

Ugh jeez I really need something to do other than post useless questions about bands I don't really care about.

Oh well.

Hmm... while you're here, might as well suggest some music videos that you really like... I'm looking for stuff that's more than just the same old boring overused shots of the band playing the song... I want substance and awesome cinematography. So yeah... suggestions please.

That is THE worst band name EVER!!!!!

They might as well have gone the full hog and called themselves "Worry! At The Wal Mart"

So lame it wants me want to kick a hole in the wall and eat the insulation!

Ohh and Nine Inch Nails - "Into The Void" is a great video

Yeah, you're right- you really do need something to do other than post useless questions about bands that you don't really care about.

Now, normally, I would suggest you actually stop whining about Panic's choice of band title, and actually look up their videos, which are exactly what you describe wanting- they aren't the "same old" shots of the band- they don't even appear in their last video, and they are an easily overlooked cameo in their second to last video; see: Lying Is the Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off and Build God, Then We'll Talk. Ironic, isn't it?

But since you don't want that, I'll suggest a few others: Californication and Otherside by Red Hot Chili Peppers; Hoobastank's The Reason (I'm not fond of the song, but the video is original anyway); Muse's Plug In Baby and TIme is Running Out; Klaxons' Golden Skans and Magick and Modest Mouse's Float On; look up anything by Franz Ferdinand, it's worth it.

If they had used @, it would make them seem like they were computer nerds, lol. I like the exclamation point better because it's quicker and easier to write. And when I think of panicking, I think of worry. And when someone's worried they're usually shouting, which uses exclamation, which means an exclamation point is needed. So overall, the exclamation point is better and makes more sense, but the @ would have been interesting too. Also, when the heard the phrase "panic at the disco" in Name Taken's song "Panic" they probably thought an exclamation would fit best with their band name.

Great videos:
The Bird & The Worm - The Used
Silver and Cold - AFI
Helena, I'm Not Okay (I Promise) and Welcome to the Black Parade - My Chemical Romance
Liar (It Takes One To Know One) - Taking Back Sunday
The Kill and From Yesterday - 30 Seconds To Mars
Face Down - The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
Build God, Then We'll Talk - Panic! At The Disco

The Smith's song they are named after is Panic (as a Smith's fan I must say it is one of their worst songs). Where in the song it say "Burn down the disco, hang the bloody DJ." That is where the name comes from. I imagine the exclamation point further points out the separation between the title reference and the lyrical one.

Plus, I hate that symbol. I guess it is a necessary evil in this whole web address drink from the digital fountain world, but of all the things to universally represent with a symbol, shouldn't it be a longer word than "at."

If you're looking for really great, visually stimulating videos get one of the Michel Gondry collections. He did videos for Bjork, the Foo Fighters, the Chemical Brothers and many others. He did the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and a few others, but got his start in music videos.

Its not meant to be edgy its meant as a tribute to the Smiths. They were named after a song by a popular band from the 80s called The Smiths. They had a song called "Panic" and in the song there is a line "burn down the disco"

So its a tribute to The Smith and their song "Panic"

Makes me respect them even more and also makes me like the exclamation point. :-)

Yes! The! Exclamation! Mark! Is! Kinda! Annoying!
Cool videos? Hmm...definitely Primus stuff...try Southbound Pachyderm or Lacquer Head. If you like P!ATD, you probably won't like Primus, but their videos are original and cool.

hellogoodbye, they use alot of one of a kind sounds and whatnot to make their tune detailed, that is rough to uncover now-a-days. I Like P!ATD however Hellogoodbye I simply noticed at warped excursion and so they have been robust. I knew they have been well however after that efficiency i felt it integral to head purchase one in every of their shirts. Amazing efficiency, robust tune, Hellogoodbye > Panic! At the Disco.
