MY VET WANTED TO RUN A HEARTWORM AND OTHER VARIOUS TESTS ON MY DOG FRIDAY THE 22ND. HE HAD NOT RECIEVED THE TESTS BY MAIL YET. HE SAID HE WOULD CALL WITH THE RESULTS AND I FINALLY CALLED HIM TODAY, AND HE STILL HAS NOT GOT/RAN THE TESTS. IF MY DOG HAS TO HAVE SURGERIES OR OTHER TREATMENT FROM THE RESULTS, CAN I HAVE HIM PAY THE COST DUE TO TIME DELAY?

Probably not. Things like that happen all the time. If you are unsatisfied with your current vet, the best and easiest course of action would be to get a new one.

If the blood tests were being reviewed at an outside lab, this is not a long delay to get the results at all. If his bloods were drawn on 6/22 and today is 6/25, you're only talking about 2 business days (many labs are closed on weekends). Many labs take around 5-10 business days depending on the tests being run. Unless it's an urgent case, you shouldn't expect the results back this soon.

Check with your vet about the average turn around time with this lab. Reports can usually be faxed to the vet if there is any urgency.

You should try going to another vet. Most vets have the tests always on hand and they can get the results that same visit, so if you are really concerned about your dog, then find someone else to run the tests.

You can't take legal action, or make him pay any costs... sorry.

I pretty much doubt it. I don't think this would be considered malpractice or anything - plus the fact of the matter is, the cost of legal action would be absolutely ludicrous, far outstripping the cost of treating your dog for heartworm! Sorry, but just being practical.
