PG - Magic Johnson (80s) SG - Michael Jordan (90s) SF - Julius Erving (70s) PF - Bob Pettit (50s) C - Shaquille O'Neal (00s) 6th - Elgin Baylor (60s) I attempted to maximize value in every decade and at every position. I started with the 50s, because there is an abudant amount more talent in the later decades comparatively, and IMO, Bob Pettit is by far the best player to play predominantly in the 50s. Since I have Pettit starting at PF, that unfortunately takes Tim Duncan out of the equation. Since we're thinking about Duncan and that means we're in the 00s, I decide that the best possible value out of this decade is Shaq, and seeing as how I would pick Shaq as my starting center every time we're talking historically, this seems to work out well for me. Next I take a look at PG, and I know that I really want to be able to play Magic. He's the best at the position ever, and after dismissing Tiny Archibald and Walt Frazier and deciding not to pursue Oscar Robertson, I feel fine about maximizing the value out of this position as well. I have the 60s, 90s and 70s left. Seeing this, I immediately think Michael Jordan, since we're talking about maximizing value and all. Michael is a no brainer, because there's not another person in the 90s that fills the 2 or the 3 better than he fills the 2 spot and theres certainly no one better at the 2 in any other decade. For my starting 3, I take Julius Erving. He's the best SF available, he's an unexpected amount of value this late in the choosing process seeing as how Lebron and Bird are both out of the picture. Also, this team has Magic, Michael and Pettit, three of the most athletic guys around for their respective times, and I imagine that this team is going to run people right out of the gym. Erving, one of the great transition players of all time, fits right in with this mold. So I have one decade left, and keeping with the running theme, I eliminate Russell and Wilt. Those guys lose a lot of their value anyways if they're not going to start, and quite frankly we need versatility and speed off the bench. So it's down to Jerry West or Elgin Baylor, and I take the guy that can play positions 1, 2, 3 over just 2. I feel Elgin is a wildcard here. I also think that I've got the face of every other decade somehow on my team, and Elgin gets overlooked so much that I want to give him some love. BQ: Walter Szczerbiak

Argentina, Spain, and Italy. With all the argentinos playing for Spanish and Italian clubs, it's not a stretch of the imagination at all. :)
