Skin tone is a key consideration. You want makeup colors that match your skin tone. Here's how to determine yours:
Warm skin tone:
1. Look at inner wrist - veins will appear green.
2. Gold jewelry is more flattering than silver jewelry.
Cool skin tone:
1. Look at inner wrist - veins will appear blue.
2. Silver jewelry is more flattering.
Blue makes brown eyes pop. If you have a warm skin tone, then try a dark navy eyeliner tight against the upper lash line. If you have a cool skin tone, then you can experiment w/ lighter blues.
Neutrals w/ a slight shimmer & black eyeliner look great for evening.

As far as applying eye shadows, I would not use the little brushes they come with because it can cause a way too dramatic effect. I've learned through experience that applying eye shadow with your ring finger leaves a nice effect. I also have brown eyes and I've found that tones all the way from gold to dark brown and even black work well. Pink is also nice for a fun night out! Good luck with everything! =)

I have dark brown eyes (that are usually mistaken for black), and I do everything. Skin tone really matters. I go by: fair, beige, golden, bronze, deep. I'm a beige, which is cool skin tone but not pinky-paley. I use greys, browns, greens, and neutrals. Blues look utterly trashy on me.
I use two shades of the color: light and dark. I go from the upper lid to halfway up the bone with the light, then shade the outer corners of the color with the darker. Also brush some lighter color on the inner corners of your bottom lid to really pop your eyes. Hope I helped!!

I have dark brown eyes and I go with a metalic brown, blunt brown, and light highlighter pink. First brush the lightest highlighter color over the tops under your eyebrows. Then cover most of your above eyes with the next color, for me the blunt brown. Then spread your darkest color ( mine is metalic brown) up to your crease.

If you wear eyeshadow every day, it's worth getting a brush instead of using those little applicators that look like q tips. you can use your little finger untill you get one, it's out of the way and you wont get eyeshadow smudges all over your face.
