a vary basic rule of thumb for ac is 1 ton (12000 BTU) per 500 sf

We actually just bought a Goldstar 6,000 BTU air conditioner and we are just using it in our bedroom (because we can shut the door and conserve the cold air!) but I think the box said up to 150 sq. feet.

depending on the insulation , windows,outside walls,where the room is located, what is above/below the room ...the general rule of thumb is 300-600sq feet per 12000btu's
