Bake sales are always a hit, especially if you're selling both human and dog/cat/ferret goods.

So are garage sales. If you're working with the animal shelter on the fundraiser, make posters about it asking for item donations for the sale. Many people are willing to donate their old items for a good cause, and you can sell all the items at one time, which can make a lot of money.

You can host a talent show, booking a small building that can hold it.You can host auditions, open to everyone, and charge admission for the show. Having animal acts is s great way to encourage people to come and donate for the cause as well. You can also sell food and beverages during the program, and even hold a raffle for a special item. Make little booklets for the show, with information and pictures of the animals at the shelter inside, along with information about the acts. They're pretty cheap to do.

Car washes always gain lots of money. Get a bunch of friends over and advertise about the car wash with posters a week or two before the event. Let people know it's for the animal shelter. LOL -- "topless" car washes are also a big hoot.. basically, you wash everything but the top of the car for free, but you ask for donations to wash the top (nobody is actually topless ;-) ). Convertibles get a free wash. If you have any animals there, they all wear pants, but no shirts (hence the 'topless').

Around holidays, hold a holiday event, like a haunted house for Halloween, or have carriage rides and a seasonal celebration of some sort during winter.

Here's one that won't cost anything, but will require some effort.

Gardens get overwhelming and people grow much more than they can use.

Call friends & neighbors and ask if they would be willing to donate some of those veggies for a Market to raise money for the animal shelter.

Set up a nice table with a cloth and set up baskets filled with cucumbers, tomatoes, zuccini...etc.

Make a large sign and let everyone know about your cause.

A good location is key. A corner parking lot or a gas station would be ideal. People will have time to read what you're doing as they are filling up their tanks.

Good luck!

Also, ask the Shelter manager to visit the Funderbug website and sign up for free. It will help them raise money all year long.

I know of a company that helps with fundraising. They provide these cards that have 50 scratch off circles on them. Inder each circle is an ammount of money from $.50 to $3.00. What you do is ask people to scratch of a few of the circles and donate that amount of money to them. And in exchange for the donation, you give them a page of ten coupons, worth over 20 bucks itself, as a thanks for donating the money! Each card will raise $100!! You will not find an easier or faster way to raise some money! I hope this helped and if you would like me to hook you up with some cards then I can do that quickly and easily! It is so simple and perfect for what you are doing!! Just give me a call! 1-281-789-4409 and ask for Karen or Eugene!

I have a risk-free fundraiser, you need no money to get started. I will send you all the materials you need free of charge. It's a great and easy way to raise funds for just about anything, animal shelters included. If interested, email stephanie_nature@yahoo.com with "fundraiser" in the subject line and I will get you more information.
Great luck with this & have a wonderful day!

Get an adult sponsor and have them help you write up a non -profit organizational letter asking businesses in your area for a donation to your cause, for Your Local Animal Shelter. You would need to be working with the animal shelter first to get their approval in your seeking funds for them in this way.

WalMart and may other businesses donate millions of dollars every year to causes like yours. You just have to be willing to put yourself out in this way. And be able to take rejection also.

I did the same thing for a shelter in my neigborhood, I just stood in front os a local shopping center with a can and asked for donations and passed out flyers about homeless animals. I made almost 400 dollars. Good luck!

p.s. I think what you are doing is great!

Yard/rummage sale, getting prizes donated & selling raffle tickets for them, silent auction, live auction, etc. We had a hot dog cookout for ours once. The hot dogs, buns & drinks were donated & we had a volunteer cook. It was a great success. It just depends on the size of fundraiser you want to have. Good luck!

Place posters asking for donations for a yard sale.
Always a great way to raise funds.
Everyone has items they want to give away for a good cause.
Good luck.

Most shelters like blankets.
You may cover some tin cans with the name of your shelter and take them to pet stores, veteranarian offices, and ask if you can leave them on their counters for donations

Good luck!
