Why? Is it a patent sort of thing? Do the Americans have the right of exclusivity? Why don't we have a world cup of the American Football...?

Tnx!

The US doesn't have a legal exclusive relationship with American football. I think it is because the US is the only nation that offers the sport, Canada too but they play with different rules. There have been other attempts at international leagues but none have lasted very long. NFL Europe is just a farm league for NFL franchises and the World Football League folded. If they made football international it wold take the rest of the globe a number of years to train players that could compete with the players of the NFL.

Its marketing. Football didn't even become the beast it is now if it werent for the merger of the NFL/AFL. The fact baseball and hockey suffered a total of 3 strikes in the last 20 years also shows stability. What really makes football special is the schedule. We have to wait six days for one whole day of football. Sure there are a few days here and there but Sunday is God and his sport happens to be football. 17 weeks of regular season football and another four weeks of playoff.

Baseball has 162 regular season games. Imagine your favorite team 20-50 before the all star? hockey and basketball over 80 games in a regular season? Football has the best season, fall and winter, where its better to be home watching the games.

Soccer is the grandfather of football. That sport is huge in the world simply because its been around longer and is cheap. 1 ball 22 players and 1 sucker to enforce the rules. I am still shocked Peru beat Uruguay 3-0.

Volleyball is huge too in Europe, South America and Asia (here too but no marketing). We're comfortable with whats been around, I mean Americans, and don't respond well to change. Thats just human nature.

Go Broncos! Yanks resign A Rod and get young. Lets go Devils. Hate Boca

It's not that there is a patent on American football. Any other country in the world can start their own league. It just seems that there isn't much interest in the game much like soccer (what the rest of the world calls football) gets little attention in the US.

The reason that soccer/football is the world sport is because of its low cost of entry. To play a game you need a ball and two teams. 1 ref. thats it.
American football to play you need:
22 helmets
22 sets pads
1 ball
2 teams
8 officials

Bc we're the only ones dumb enough to play it. So many of the NFL players have concusions, broken bones, and that sort of stuff other countries find it dumb. But their's a place for every one on a football team. Their are BIG people-centers FAST-WR and Safety
And talented- Running Back
Soccer is for a select few...The fast and in shape
baseball-the strong and fast

It is the top dog in American sports and that is all that matters. I wouldn't really care if it never takes off in any other country. Let them have their soccer. Soccer in the US will never be more than a 6th rate sport in the US.

i think its because it orginated in the United States and other countries dont all have the money to support such a big thing. We dont have the exclusive rights.... and there isnt a world cup because no one else plays it! Most other countries never picked up on football...they are all too into soccer...but idk y they never picked up fooball.
