Nortons is not only junk, but a hugh nightmare with you try to remove their software from add/remove. You only think that the program has been removed. You are actually left with over 375 fragments of Nortons/Symantec glued to your files, folders, registry and hidden all over your sytem to cause you serious conflict.
I will do my very best to help you, as it is very complex to remove and I hope that you have computer experience.
1) Download http://www.download3k.com/Install-Delete-Doctor.html (This is free software, Delete Doctor 2.1). This program when installed, & I use myself, if you follow the instructions will help you to remove Nortons and any other write protected file, folder, or registry key.
After you have installed the program, go to "Browse", open and the look for my program files, open and look for Nortons and open Nortons, until you have the same logo that is on your monitor, now add that logo to Delete Doctor, and double click on "delete file after reboot".
Now reboot your system. When your programs load, go to start, open run and type in: c://program files, double click on browse, open my program files, and look for Norton and open and delete. (This is not the end because Nortons his hidden all over your system).
Now go to start, search files, and type in: "Nortons", and scan your system. When your system finds, "Nortons", delete the files from the top down. Now go back and type in, "Symantec", scan again, and delete all files from the top down that come up with "Symantec".
Reboot your system and you should be free of Nortons.
Here is an excellent free antivirus program.

Norton is the worst program for removing it completely from your computer, there are special instructions which Symantec will provide if you go onto their site, it is a long drawn out process as you will have to access the hidden files and then be very careful not to delete anything accidentally.
I used to use it till I had to uninstall it and then decided not to use it again. Sorry I can't be of more help, but the only way is really for you to research it yourself, it is far too lengthy process to describe here.

Go to the program folder (it's usually C:\Program files\Synaptic\Norton) and find a program called Unwise. Run this and it will remove the lot.
