Whipping? I'm not sure what you mean by that--it sounds like something you do with an object--so no, that's abusive.
I totally believe in spanking a child, though. All the time outs in the world don't work the way the fear of a pop on the tushy does!

Yes...because other punishments are pointless. No I don't believe in violent whipping and beating them but yes a spanking every now and then especially if other punishments aren't effective. I have seen way to many kids that talk back, holler at their parents and other adults, throw temper tantrums, outspoken, just really mean and direspectful kids that needs a spanking. Obviously the time out thing isn't working! I don't think they should whipped until at least age 5.

if you just mean spanking, yes but anything more than that, no. My dad used a leather belt and my mom used a paddle or a shoe (sandle). I approve Of both methods. Why, because I have friends with little kids and the ones that don't get spanked (which just so happeds to be the majority of them) don't do what they're told and are always doing things they're not supposed to. The ones that are spanked are, the majority of the time very well behaved. (Remember I'm saying spanked, not beaten.) oh, and as I said, my parents spanked me and I turned out just fine.

Not whipping, but a smack on the fanny worked for me. I have 4 children and I only had to smack 1 fanny.
I was a very young mother and my oldest was 3 at the time. She ran across the street after I had told her not to. I smacked her only once and I never forgave myself. But-she also never crossed the street alone again. She's 51 now, so I guess you could say we both survived the smack.

No. I still have scars from where my late father beat me, and he also broke several of my bones. There are more humane ways to teach a child right from wrong. A physical confontation between a grown adult and a pre-school child is not what I'd call a fair fight.

No, I was spanked as a child and there ar times now when I wanna slap the kids, but I don't.I hate that that is in me, you know, that some instinctual part of me is violent. I wish I'd never been spanked and don't plan to spank my kids. My Mom actually apolagized 4 spanking me a few months back, she says it was unnecessary.

NO - children need discipline not abuse!!
out of everyone i know there are an equal mix of people who smack their kids and those who dont and i can say all the kids who get smacked are hyperactive, noisy, violent and generally naughty and the ones that dont are generally calm, well mannered and respectful towards other people
so definitely not!!

Not at all. Spanking a child is cruel and humiliating. There are better ways to discipline your children. shame on the people who physically punish their children.
