I have a 88 Chevy Blazer 2.5L TBI FI, that will turn over but will not crank. I have taken the breather off and I can see fuel being sprayed while the car is being turned over. Althought it's not a real good spray more like a spit.I have also taken each spark plug wire off and with a screwdriver initiated a test to see if the wire will arc to the block and frame. All wires are arcing, I have done the same to the coil wire. The coil wire arced as well. When you first turn the ignition switch on I do not hear the fuel pump but I am not sure if I should be able to hear it. but the TBI are spitting fuel. If someone could possibly lead me to the right direction I would very much appreciate it. .
Thanks Have a Great Day

I have used starting fluid into the TBI while someone was turning the engine and that did not work. It did not even sound like it was attempting to crank. I also add just the teeny tinyiest bit of gasoline to the TBI to see if I could get it to do something and that did not work either. The Distributor thing sounds promising, I may give that a try. Google searches indicated that I should also look into the EGR valve and the loosen the fuel cap incase of vapor lock. Do any of these sound promising?

Could a fuel pump relay be the culprit?

first, spray some carb leaner into the TBI then try to start, if it does then you need a fuel pump. Now, if it does not start then you need to check the Ditrebuter, it could be bad. also there is a crank position sensor. your car does not have a timing belt, its got a timing chain or gears, sorry for the person that gave you that option. and there is now way that timing chain would jump.

If your engine is turning over it is cranking: that is what turning over is : CRANKING. It mite not be turning over fast enough to start. You could have bad plugs and their not sparking. Also when you checked the plug wires and they were sparking you did not need to check the coil: the coil is what causes the spark in the plug wires to be there.
You should be able to hear the fuel pump when you turn the key on>< Your fuel could be stale, timing could be off, plugs themselves could be bad, battery mite be weak not turning over fast enough, 88 had computers on board, the computer could be bad. There are a lot of could be's. Your fuel could be coming in to fast flooding the engine, or not fast enough starving it for fuel. There are a lot of could be's that can cause this causing your problem.

Ok It's getting fuel, ignition, and air the three components for starting. Bet the timing belt slipped a notch so the timing is off. Check the timing, If you do not have a timing light, loosen the distributor (small screw or bolt near the engine block) and while cranking turn a little to the left, then right and see if it starts to fire up. If it does keep going in that direction just a little till it is up and running.

When you turn the key, yes, you should hear a buzzing sound that is the fuel pump.. if you don't its possible your fuel line is clogged or your pump has gone out. Thats what this sounds like to me.

Check the fuel pressure. The fuel spray should be fine and cone shaped, not a spit or drip.

first spray carb cleaner in and if it starts with spraying it in then it is a fuel pump issues.
