I just watched this episode. It was on the Walsh twins first day of school in chemistry class. Kelly was seated at a lab table and some girl was walking around the class trying to find a place to sit and pick a lab partner. She must have had cooties or something because no one wanted her as a partner. Just as she asked Kelly if the empty seat next to her was taken Brenda walks in and Kelly , grossed out by cooties like everyone else, said yes she was saving it for "that girl" and called a lost looking Brenda over to sit with her. They introduced themselves and became best enemies ever since.

Kelly and Brenda met in chemistry class,and then Kelly introduced her to Donna and the gang.

They probably met walking down the hallway at school. I imagine Kelly wanted to meet Brenda, so she could start dating her brother Brandon.
