Mines are Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet because both are good and romantic (second one that I mentioned) and intense.

Give me Merchant of Venice any day!

I love a battle. And when I read Merchant of Venice, I saw a battle unfold of Gentile (gentle?) v. Jew; Antonio v. Shylock. Of course, that's exactly what the play is about.
I wrote a research paper on the book, arguing that Shylock was the victim of the book, not the villain that people tend to paint. And his redemption speech: ...If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, do we not revenge?... The entire speech is my favorite quote ever, and I have used it for a play audition monologue.
Anyway, the best thing about the book is Shakespeare wrote it at a time to be a comedy. Shylock was probably comical looking and/or stupid acting (Like Sir Andrew in Twelfth Night!), but in today's society, we tread upon the book more quietly. No, it is not entirely a comedy. It is a life lesson

Romeo and Juliet is my favorite. I think that it is the most romantic and heartbreaking stories ever. No matter how many times that I read it or see it, it never fails to make me cry, and I am not one of those weepy women who usually cry a lot. I also love Macbeth because of all of the crazy stuff in it. It is just highly entertaining! The Taming of the Shrew is also a favorite of mine. Hell, they're all great!

I've read hamlet, julius caeser, macbeth, a midsummer night's dream, the merchant of venice, and romeo and juliet. Personally for me I like romeo and juliet for obvious reasons, being that I'm female =)

my fave is Hamlet. I love the drama and the story. I have seen it 3 times on stage and I do like Romeo and Juliet also. Have you ever been to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery, AL? It is fantastic! It is year round and they have excellent plays and a great in-house troupe.

I looove Macbeth. The pure wickedness of the charcters and the overall plot is brilliant. I really like Othello too. I think Iago is one of Shakespears most colourful and intense characters. I love him because I hate him so much. Then ofcourse A Midummer Nights dream which is just magical and fastastical. The "unreal" aspect of it makes it quite unique.

I think Romeo and Juliet has become way too overdone. it's too cliche. and i bet most people haven't even read it all. I'm not a huge fan of shakespeare, but i did like Twelfth Night because it was very whimsical and just very fun.

My favorites have always been Henry VI parts 2 and 3 because Henry really evolves throughout them. He demonstrates intelligence, bravery and wisdom (and most importantly for me), a self-awareness that makes him a truly arresting character. Shakespeare's Falstaff is also a very interesting and colorful character. Another plus is that they aren't performed very often so they haven't been worn out. They still seem fresh.

Othello.
It is just so dirty and twisted.
And of course Romeo and Juliet. It is the most tragic love story. Ever.

"To be or not be...."
On any day it would be Hamlet.... each word of the book holds a deep meaning....the sufferings of Hamlet and the prevailing dilemma over his action is similar to everyone's life today....
The best ever proposal made to any girl (cant find better words than these)
Doubt thou the stars are fire;
Doubt that the sun doth move;
Doubt truth to be a liar;
But never doubt I love.

No superficiality no big heroics to boast ......
so true so natural and so human thats Hamlet.
I simply love it!
