Slade definitely sounds like a very 80's bad hair metal band type of name. I don't like it. If you MUST use it, use it as the middle name. Ascher is a nice name, but I would go with the traditional spelling - Asher.

Slade, is personally, not a favorite for me. I agree w/you-it sounds very rough around the edges and "rock-star". Even though your husband loves it...you should definately not compromise on a name you are not 100% sure about loving. After all, you will be saying for the rest of your life. With all the names out there, you will both be able to finally agree on a name you both love. Ascher is great...really neat middle name! Good luck to you!

No offense, but I do not like the name Slade. My brother in law's name is Slade Jeremy and he is the biggest dork.
So everytime I hear the name Slade I automatically think DORK!!! What about Zachariah Ascher?
Sienna is a beautiful name!!

Yup-Slade was a terrible hair band in the 80's. And it does not make for a good baby name, I'm afraid.
There are a lot of masculine names that won't single a child out for the wrong reasons. Give the boy a name that he can be proud of and succed with!
Conor, James, Jake, Trevor, Michael...the classics are so handsome.

Slade does sound very rockstar....like viper. but i think its one of those that's going to get more popular with time... but maybe try Ascher Slade. Ascher is a lil less out there but you still have both names....and can call him either one
by the way though...LOVE Sienna, even if it is gaining popularity

Slade is a very strong name...almost too much. Especially since it cannot be abbreviated. Plus - it makes me think of the jerk Slade off of the Real Housewives of Orange County. Eww

It sounds masculine alright but not much like a child's name. I'd call him Ascher and if he wants to be called Slade when he gets older, he can change.

When I went to school in Texas, I knew a very nice young man named Slade. He was very polite, intelligent, and ended up being very well traveled. Ascher, if you're not aware, is a type of diamond cut. If you want to see what it looks like, you can go to www.bluenile.com and "build your own ring" to see an Ascher-cut diamond. They're very nice. Slade Ascher sounds really nice and not too average.
