I just snipped my garlic tops (you know the curly ones) from my veggie garden so the bulbs can grow better, and I know you can use the tops, but do I have to use the tops right away or how do I store them? I have a camping trip coming up and there will be lots of people July 6, we are thinking of having activities for the kids with these, will they last that long?

I meant Scapes, thanks...Yes, I know I can eat them, I just don't know how long the scapes will store.

I'm sure that they will freeze well,
none of my books have anything on saving /curing scrapes
not much info on the Internet either

I would think that they would need to be cured

I don't know long they will keep, but did you know that you can eat garlic scapes? Just saute them in oil and garlic or however you like to saute. They are quite good. I had no idea until my sister in law who is Chinese made some for us when she stayed over.
Here is a site that has a recipe similar to hers if you want to try it. http://www.recipezaar.com/89711
You can substitute shrimp or chicken if you like.
