It isn't hard or easy on its own. It's hard or easy depending on the student. If you are very competent at the pre-requisite skills then it should be easy, provided you pay attention and do the work. If you lack the pre-requisite skills or you don't pay attention in class or don't do the work, it could be very difficult.

Nah, it's not hard. But it is important-- it's the basis of all of the math you will take in the next how-ever-many years (except Geometry; I hated Geometry), all the way up to Calculus... I personally think Algebra is fun, although I didn't start thinking that until Algebra 2 in high school.

actually no, pre-algebra is as easy as junior high school math. It is necessary to learn all the math basics before you can take algebra.
