To a musical theatre audition, should I wear jazz shoes or character shoes?

I would ask myself which ones I feel more comfortable and confident wearing during an audition. For me personally, I wear character shoes to auditions.

Comfort is important... but I usually look at the type of show it is. If you are auditioning for a more modern show, like Footloose, for example, and are clearly auditioning as one of the younger characters, I would go with jazz shoes or jazz sneakers. Other shows, like Chicago or something, would call for character shoes. I think character shoes also look more professional at an audition, but once again, look at the show and the part you are auditioning for and use your judgement.

I would have to say wear jazz shoes... because it is better not to wear a character costume of any kind when auditioning. You want to look generally good for any role in the play, not good for a specific one.

well, i've never worn jazz shoes so i say character shoes! i actually think character shoes are comfertable. i was just in a musical last thursday and friday and i had to wear character shoes and they didn't hurt my feet.

Bring both just in case. Arive in Jazz shoes and see if they want you to change. They wil like that you came prepared. Break a leg!

I would always bring both, but I say it depends on what you are auditioning for and what goes best with your ensemble :-) On the whole I would say character shoes.

it depends on what your feel more comfortable wearing. if you are more relaxed in jazz shoes, wear those. if you like character shows, wear those. if you like feeling relaxed and natural, wear jazz shoes. if you like feeling a little more fashionable, wear character shoes. it just depends on you.

Well, personally, I've heard that character shoes are perfect in pretty much any situation.

no do no longer placed on a females refrain shoe. that's a thoroughly different sort to what you want. in simple terms have bare ft or bypass purchase a pair ( in case you get in you will want the shoes besides)
