I want to put the condenser for my central air conditioning unit underneath my deck. What is the minimum amount of clearance that I need from the top of the unit to the bottom of the deck?

atleast 2-3ft be good clearance and a few feet for the sides so the unit has good air circulation breath and stay cool when its in use. if it doesnt get good air the unit will begin to go loud and work harder then it suppose to.
im actually planning on putting a deck over mine and its about a good 3ft clearance which is good enough.

i would go with what bubba is saying...i sell Heil , Keeprite and Goodman/Amana and they all have a minimum of 4 foot of clearance from the top of the unit...i would also suggest that you put it as close to the outside edge of the deck so there is less chance of the warm air recirculating through the condenser coil...that and bubba may not have to crawl under the deck when it is time to service/fix it (because it will need that one day) and a happy bubba charges less $$$

You'll want a minimum of 3 feet, and the warm air must have a place to go so that it does not recirculate around to the coils again.
