I believe they are on the fence right now between being a team that is buying or selling. If they can make a little run between now and the all-star game and come out winning after the all-star game I believe they will be buyers and you could see them make a move to get to the playoffs. They will be sellers if they come to the conclusion they won't make the playoffs this year. If they are buying the need someone to hit behind Pujols to give him some protection or he will have more BB's than Bonds at season end.

I think we can get Burhle and possibly on the cheap. The White Sox are looking to move him and he has expressed a desire to come here. We can offer a package that would include Anthony Reyes. Throw in a couple of minor league prospects and the deal could happen.
Personally, I'm not that excited about the prospects of getting Burhle. He is a good pitcher and the market is EXTREMELY thin. We have Carpenter coming back and hopefully Mulder close behind. I would rather focus our efforts on another bat to solidify the middle of the lineup. Packaging a deal of say Rolen, Reyes and Encarnacion to the Yanks for Rodriguez, although improbable, is alot more appealing. I may only be dreaming but Arod wants out and there's not many third baseman available out there....just a thought...

Time for the Cards to have a fire sale. Keep Pujols, and get rid ofsome of the other stiffs like Edmonds, Eckstein, etc while they are still worth something. Cards need pitching maybe they can get rid of some vets to get some young minor league arms and build towards next year. Good Luck!

I think they are going to make a move. Getting Maroth was definitely a big deal and he pitched well, which is even better. I see them looking for another starter, someone who can keep them in the game for about 6-7 innings, but someone with experience. They have a tendency to get more veteran guys. I'd like to see them get Beuhrle.

They should trade Pujols to the A's for Shannon Stewart...
I know it would never happen in a million years... but a guy can dream cant he?
