My oldest daughter (shes a sophmore) is begging to look into colleges. Yes, to some this may seem a bit earlier, but the sooner we plan ahead financially the better. Anyways, does anyone know of any Christian Acting schools and/or colleges. My daughter has done a lot of theater, and acting is something that she, along with our family, would like her to continue with...
I also have a daughter going into 8th who also would like to go on with acting (she also has done many plays and some small TV stuff).
We would greatly appreciate any colleges, camps or schools that you know of (preferably Christian colleges, but religion is too, too of a big deal)
Thank you...
PS Colleges any where in the US, but camps and schools in the NYC, NJ, CT, MA, New England area please...

I meant that being a Christian college is not the big of a deal. We were just wondering if there were any out there. So, state colleges or any other college are fine also.

If you want the best for your daughter you will not limit her choices to only Christian Acting schools

Rather than limiting her to Christian schools, may I suggest looking at state schools or other schools which have strong Christian organizations? I went to a state (public) university, but there were several large Christian organizations that were extremely active - I'm not Christian, but if I were, I think I would have felt fulfilled by what was on offer.
Another idea is to find a school with an acting program that has a Christian university in the same town, so that she can join them for fellowship but get the best possible education as well.
Binghamton University in New York has a great theatre program, and has a Christian school in town as well. Same with University of New Hampshire and University of Rhode Island - and all are in fairly small town areas, so no scary big city stuff.
As for camp, there's one in Hackensack, NJ but I can't remember the name.

Most Christians and Christian colleges have a real distrust of acting, and therefore you may have some real problems finding what you are looking for. Your best bet, however, would be some of the larger colleges and universities that will most likely have a drama departments (like TCU, Pepperdine, etc.). Small conservative evangelical colleges will most likely not have drama departments.

Marywood University in Scranton,PA is a Christian school with a good arts program. I think also University of Scranton. If you want to look outside of Christian schools, University of the Arts in Philly is very good.

Anything worth while is worth searching for. What He promises to deliver is salvation and eternal life in heaven. He can deliver. Sounds like you expect gifts or something. Those things are self gratifying things. Not the reason we need a God. Although He does have gifts for us, peace, patience, rest glory, new heart, faith, repentance, wisdom, grace, the Holy Spirit and may more. Most all of His gifts have a "if you do this, I will do this" the thing is people don't want to do what they are suppose to they just want God to perform. And cry foul when He doesn't. Thing is they haven't kept up their end.

Dear Rebekkah Faith is the basis for any principle in life, not only for a Christian, but to all, irrespective of religion, creed, nationality and color. When a baby is born, there is no prior knowledge to the baby, but accepts as father, whom mother tells as father, and elder sister, elder brother, grand parents etc. How is it true for such acceptance? What you have not known, you have learnt from a person in whom you impose FAITH. Faith is not a blind belief but a surrender with full trust on the person. So we try to accept many things conveyed to us by elders, because we have faith in them. If you start arguing as how can I believe the person as father, you are telling me, means there is no basis for the life to start. When you go to a school/ college many things are taught. You will keep faith on the teacher, and start learning. Otherwise how to know if the teacher is right or wrong. You can disbelieve some thing, and say it as wrong, only if you have acquired abundant knowledge on that subject and you are pretty sure and authoritative of what you challenge. With out any knowledge, one has no right to say something is wrong. If I said to you that SUGAR tastes sweet, then with out tasting it if you start disbelieving and arguing, is it correct. If you just put sugar in your mouth, you will realize that the said statement is true. So one can come to understand the wisdom behind all things said by elders, religious heads etc,, only when one keeps faith and put them into practice. Whether it is Christ, or Krishna or Allah, one will know the power and the happiness derived and also the positive traits they get only if they accept and practice with out questioning. As I said above a chemist can 100 pages on Sugar describing co;lor, organic bonds it has, properties, reactions and so forth. Can you know sugar reading those 100 pages thoroughly? A small spoon of sugar in mouth explains it better than this 100 pages. God is also like that. Irrespective of religion, one can only feel God, and cannot read and know.So acceptance and action and sincere practice are necessary to achieve anything in life. Regarding expectations and not-happenings, nothing is in your hands. You have to act positively, do justice, put up hard work, in any job. Be positive and trust matters. Expect the unexpected. Accept what may come to you. EVEN IF GOD DELIVERS YOU MAY NOT RECEIVE DUE TO YOUR MISGIVINGS.. God has no politics to play. He does not cheat you expecting faith from you and keeping against you. Your happiness. gifts, awards and rewards are always based on your doings. Punishments and unhappiness also due to ones own misdeeds. This subject requires faith and not logic and arguments, if one really wants to enjoy fruits.
