My preference is the Squier. I own a Squier Precision(made in Japan)that is 22 years old. I also own an ESP LTD C-304, an OLP MM3 5 string and an Epiphone Thunderbird. The only modifications I have made to any was to the Squier. I installed a Badass II bridge and put in American made potentiators. The Squier is my go to bass when I want that good old classic rock & roll sound. I also play through a Bassman 100 watt combo amp. Each of my basses have distinctive sounds but there isn't anything the Squier won't do. I have used the Squier to play in a gigging group for many years and have never been embarrassed by the Squier name. If it's looks you want, your options are unlimited. If it's sound you want you can't go wrong with the maker of the first bass guitar, Fender, and also have a look that is still in style!

I have the Gibson Thunderbird model, and I LOVE IT. the balance is weird, but you'll get used to it. they sound is AWESOME, I don't even have to turn my amp up very loud for it. The tone is very smooth and low.great for metal or punk bass. Epiphone is a good brand, too. go w/ the T-Bird

your links did not work, but its all up to your style.

Do you like the snap bass sound? (percussion)
-or-
Do you want the look and sound similarity to SoAD?

Quite honestly I'd go with the Squier; epiphone is just a cheep company for beginners. Squiers cheep and more of an intermiadiate(sp) sound

I'm a big epiphone lover myself.

I play a epiphone embassy. It's heavy as hell (considering I'm a very short girl) but I hate playing on anything else. Good quality and great sound.

Go for the Precision and don't look back.

Stick with the classics - they're classic for a reason.

Go with the Epi. That T-bird design is cool!

Anyway, tough call b/c both are "lesser" versions of their famous fathers. I'd say the Epi'.
