I am proposing a scenario so that both the AL and the NL can have both 16 teams. Currently the AL has 14 and the NL has 16.

The NL has 1 more team in the west, and 1 more team in the Midwest. Lets see if my proposal would work:

Would putting an expansion team in Portland Oregon (AL WEST), and putting another expansion team in Memphis TN or Des Moines IA (AL CENTRAL) work?

Suggestions Please?

Hmmm lets see, there aren't enough talented players in MLB right now to fill 30 teams, let alone 32.

There is already too big a gulf between the MLB haves and have nots. Expanding the league now would only widen it and dilute the product.

There is much more involved than simply saying you are going to expand and put two new teams in place. How do you know that Des Moines and Portland can support a team, and what about a stadium? In addition, the game is not ready for two new teams at this point in time. It was only a few years back when MLB was talking about taking two teams away. I have no problem with 16 National and 14 American league teams until expansion is needed.

Good idea, I do think Portland would for sure support a team, only problem is it would never happen. Do you remember some years back they were talking about getting rid of two teams? The feeling is that the talent has gotten too diluted. Maybe sometime way down the line that will happen, but not now. I do think that if and when they expand the league, they should look into Puerto Rico.

Ignoring the effect of talent dilution, I would suggest adding Portland and Las Vegas (maybe Salt Lake) to the AL West and moving Texas into the AL Central. This evens out the leagues and the time zones for the AL West.

if MLB will make the major team in Memphis. The rivalry between St. Louis team and Memphis team will become newest rivalry series as will call the "Mississippi River" Rivalry Series as "Freeway" in Los Angeles and Anaheim. Memphis improve their population and increase their business. Memphis always has the professional basketball team, Memphis Grizzly.

Memphis always has the minor team. If MLB decides to put the team there. St. Louis organization should move the minor team away from Memphis to another place that it will close to St. Louis.

the NL team will be in Iowa in Midwest state where the both state universities as Iowa and Iowa State had made to College World Series.

NO!!!! and that i won't have the ability to emphasize that sufficient. increasing the style of communities interior the playoffs no longer in basic terms could upload to the scale of the season too lots, it may reward communities for having a extra powerful than familiar season. In my strategies, extra powerful than familiar does not make a set worth of playoffs. that incredibly makes the common season lots much less significant. NFL isn't MLB. They nonetheless get communities interior the playoffs who have not got lots danger of winning, and that i want each baseball group that's interior the playoffs to have a reasonable shot. additionally, I hate, hate, hate the assumption of giving any group a bye. and don't even point out the evaluation to NBA and NHL. you do no longer even could win a million/2 your video games in the two league to make the playoffs. Neither has a significant common season, and additionally you will confirm the baseball season could without delay grow to be meaningless too. i've got heard this question before and that i be attentive to you think of it can be a stable theory, however the MLB playoffs properly suited now are approximately as stable as they could be. If it is not any longer broke, do no longer attempt to repair it!!!!!!!!!!

I have been to Des Moines Iowa twice, the city closes at 5:30 pm on week nights.

Not a very active place.

I would think that Buffalo could support a team.

I think you would have to put it some where where they dont have a minor league team there because there are no Cities with a major league and minor league team. I know Portland and Mephis have one so they would have to move the team to some other city. But seeing that most of the Major cities that dont have a major league team have a minor league team so it would be hard to find a place to put teams.

Expansion is not a viable option at this time. Maybe around the 2015-2020 window.

As long as the metro area population is large enough and the local economy sufficiently robust, it doesn't much matter what sites are chosen.
