I didn't think I was especially shockable but some of the comments hereabouts about Madeleine McCann's parents has genuinely shocked me.
It made me realise that I am less cynical than I thought I was because I was shocked that people could be so cruel and callous towards people who, although they clearly made a mistake that contributed to the situation, are, as far as I can see, clearly in anguish and pain over the disappearance of their daughter.
What shocked me most was the fact that some people have quite simply invented some very nasty stuff to throw at them.
Another thing that shocks me is that there are people in the world who still think that capital punishment is an acceptable practice for a government to endorse or for any individual to participate in. I recently learned that participation in executions is against American Medical Association codes of practice. Nevertheless yet every execution by lethal injection in the US is attended by a physician, although levels of involvement vary.
Violence against other people shocks me too, when I see the effects of it, which isn't that often (perhaps that's why it shocks me as it does).
Hmm perhaps I always was more shockable than I though!

Think skin? I think it means Thick Skin.
What really shocks me is people with the capacity to think for themselves. They are almost an extinct breed.
Plenty of things that are not surprising or shocking bother me. Take the president of the United States for example. It is no surprise to see any president abusing his power but the fact that thousands have died for his selfish gain invokes a feeling that if described as bothering would be an understatement.

I am not so much shocked by the things that are going on in the world. As a believer, I know that satan is having himself a ball going to and fro in the world killing, stealing and destroying. All we can do is continue to pray and spread love toward others as much as we can. There will come a day when peace and love will return to the earth.

I don't think so . . . For most of us, it is not so much that "Nothing shocks us anymore," it's more the feeling of impotence at the helplessness of not being able to do anything to stop the atrocities or do anything about the aftermath.

television, movies and video games have desensitized us. When the very first Frankenstien movie came out, women screamed and fainted in the movie theatre. Now it would be considered very tame.

I don't think you need to be very old, to be too old to be shocked anymore. But never too old to be disgusted.
