My attorney says, lots of "new" people at patent office.
Lots of problems, turn-over, dissatisfaction. Does this sound truthful? My "design" patent is VERY simple to understand. It is unbelievable that anything NEW should take 28 months and still know NOTHING.
I heard in Canada it only takes 12-14 months max. anybody know?
Thanks.

The Patent office has been backed up for many many years. Recently they have hired thousands of new "patent examiners" to help speed up the process. Some patent applications can be over 100, 000 pages and take quite some time to go through. There are attorneys, researchers, and many other people involved in getting a patent resolved. The Examiners go through an 8 month long academy to learn how to read them. 28 months is an improvement over 5 or 6 years ago. Whoever told you they take 12-14 months in Canada lied.

You can always state "Patent Pending." This offers some amount of protection. But, be sure to have the patent process ... the government takes a dim view of lying about this.

Since you're design is very simple it will take less time. But not by much ( a few months?)
