List some Impressive hobbies...?

Question

People often ask about what your "hobbies" are? And the traditional things that come to mind are "stamp collecting", "coins" etc. Not cool.

So list some of the more interesting and exquisite hobbies that one could flaunt. Let's say something that would be Shakespeare's or Einstein's hobby etc.

I dumpsterdive. Today I found a really nice HP camera. I make over $1000 a year in deposit cans.

I have a Bloodhound Rescue.

I collect eyeglass frames.

I cycle 30 miles a day, hit 100K two years ago.

Shakespeare and Einstein were to busy for a hobby. I beg to differ with you on numismatics, it is the hobby of Kings. I have coins that the Emperors of ancient China did the calligraphy on some of them in his own hand. I have a 1/2 dollar 1861-O that was made by the Confederacy when they took over the New Orleans mint. I have many coins that are mentioned in the bible as well as Roman coins that paid a Legionnaire a days pay. I have pirate treasure, gold doubloons and pieces of eight. I have coins that were hand struck in 400 BC as well as coins of Alexander the Great. i have coins that George Washington or Ben Franklin could have spent. So don't give me this not cool bit. I could go on but you get the drift I hope.

Einstein liked to sail but he would go out when there was no wind, everybody else was at the bar, he could feel every gust of wind and imagine something out there, wonder what he thought about? This story was told by Peter Ustinov an actor who was in the same sailing club.

i used to have a hobby, i spent a summer in my city's underground storm drain system looking for a mythical secret tunnel. two theories about this tunnel, 1. it was used as an 'underground railroad' to smuggle slaves to the near by river, from which they will make their escape toward the north. 2. confederates hid gold in it while they were retreating from sherman's march. but i never found it. but many very old storm drain though, some were pre-civil war era and about 6 feet tall. but i haven't gone down there again, since i started working...

I personally am a gourd artist. I find it is very relaxing and after taking a dirty ugly gourd and changing it into a piece of art is very challenging and rewarding. I never feel stupid tellin anyone this is my choice of a hobby.
There are several groups that specialize in gourd art and it allows me to comunicate with others having the same interest and learn more from very sharing and tallented artist.

catching nutrinos in a barrel of heavy water in a deep cave. one thing i did do though was on my down time i allowed my computer to work on the seti project. they need thousands of computers to process all the information that comes back from space to look for signs that anything could be a message from an intelligent source outside our solar system. however most of the time i quilt, crochet, paint, sew, and make jewelry. boring old me.

antique collector. it may seem old and weird but if you have an impressive collection that's worth millions, its hard not for your guests to have slack jaws and bulging eyeballs.

you can be more specific and collect Renassaince time period antiques.

or if you want to be weird and special you can collect notebooks from famous people geniuses.

Model railroads... Fill your basement with benchwork, track, trains, buildings, scenery... Look up some magazines or websites, they get incredible!
