those have got to be "Q" times Kristy. wholly shite! :^)
anything below .30 for a 50 yard (SCY) free is moving along. your first goal should be to break .30. once you can do that, work on lowering it in steps. if you want to be a sprinter, small decreases are all your going to get. for example, going from .28.56 to .28.06 might not seem like a big deal, but that is a huge drop. if you want to really see some quick improvements, work on your start and your turn and especially your "break-outs" you'll see good results.
swim fast!

I would say for a girl swimming at least 1/2 year freshman in high school (that's what the age is) would be about 34-35, maybe a little lower (36+). I'm a guy so of course I have much more experience with guy's times than I do girls'.

USA Swimming offers a database of current LCM (long course meters) and SCY (short course yards) times for all age groups, genders and strokes.
The USA standard for 15 to 16-year-old girl in the 50 free are as follows, listing fastest and 25th percentile:
50 Free SCY: 22.75 to 23.52
50 Free LCM: 30.02 to 32.03
For more info on USA Standards check out the USA Swimming website:
http://www.usaswimming.org/usasweb/DesktopDefault.aspx?TabId=82&Alias=Rainbow&Lang=en
It depends on how competitve your club is but the USA standards are the top level competitive standards.
