Have you seen a doctor? Most bunions can now be treated without surgery. However, the different surgical procedures are:
1. simple bunionectomy - lump is removed but big toe is not realigned (fastest)
2. repairing tendons and ligaments that aren't aligned properly
3. osteotomy - a bone wedge is removed from the big toe so it can be straightened and screwed, plated or wired into place to heal
4. surfaces of damaged joint are removed and then the joint is fused together
