AP: Benoit strangled wife, smothered son

By DEBBIE NEWBY, Associated Press Writer
June 26, 2007

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- Pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in his weight room, a law enforcement official close to the investigation told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

Authorities also said they are investigating whether steroids may have been a factor in the deaths of Benoit, his wife and their 7-year-old son. Steroid abuse has been linked to depression, paranoia, and aggressive behavior or angry outbursts known as "roid rage."

To you people that admire him still...love him. How can you look at yourself in the mirror and admire a man who could smother his baby.

Who CARES if he was a good technical wrestler? Hitler loved his dogs, too but that doesn't make him less of an evil pig.

HOW can you do it? Tell me, I need to know how your mind's reconcile that.

You sicks are what's wrong with this country.

Sorry RIP:

*I* didn't disrespect (quite a euphemism, eh?) my family by STRANGLING them.

And Dizzi:

Perhaps someone will explain to you where exactly the analogy is because you clearly aren't getting it.

Well put sir. People are gonna blame the WWE, steroids, or his trainer anything else. But there is one person responsible for this, and we all know who it is.

I know it sucks I don't want to believe it but right now I have to. It sucks really bad I wish it wasn't true. I believe the steroids really ****** him up and made him do this sh it.

As far as what I think about him?
I really don't know, if he really did smother his own flesh and blood, his a ss better have been so overcome with guilt he had to hang himself.

We love who he was, not who he's become.
We dont know what happened to him, but we're admiring the man that put his family before everything, and a man that demanded the most respect out of everybody...not the guy that he turned into over the course of the weekend.

yeah I believe he did it now. I couldn't go to sleep thinking about it last night. I think that steriods had something to do with it because with the way people had described him in the WWE that had known him for many years, he would never in his right mind do something so horrible.

ur comparing a man who killed thousands of people to rule the world to some one they still dont have all the info on and if he did do it might not have been sane at the time um that doesnt seem like a good analogy to me

does it matter if he did or not? who are you to judge the situation to begin with? granted, the crime is as grizzly as anything i have ever heard of, but you dont know the circumstances behind it and neither does anyone else. he may have really been a good guy to all of those people, just had a very very dark side. or drugs, who knows? who will ever really know?

I am in shock. I remember when it was announced on the show that he had had a kid. I think he just snapped. I dont condone it I am just sad that it ended this way for him and his family.

Now that's it has been confirmed...yes, I believe it. It was still under speculation earlier...haven't you ever heard of a concept in this country of ours, "Innocent until proven guilty?"
