There's normally only two times you hear them do that.
1.) Right after the buck has bred the doe the buck will stomp.
2.) If the rabbit is scared.
I'd say something scared your rabbit. When my rabbits do that I make sure that no neighborhood dogs are bothering them or that no little kids are running around the cages.
You have to be careful when you rabbit is doing that. If it runs around the cage, it could possibly run into the side of the cage and break it's spinal chord. About the only thing you can do then is have it put to sleep.
So approach your rabbit slowly and cautiously and try to calm it down by petting it on the head between the eyes. If it starts racing around the pen when you approach it or when you reach to pet it stop or quickly grab the rabbit and stop it.
Try playing a radio 24/7 for your rabbit. That will help get it accustomed to noise so where it won't be so jumpy.
Sudden noises, sudden movements, or even sudden lacks of noise can scare a rabbit. I've even had one die just because it got scared from me walking normally through the door.
Sometimes a lightning storm can scare them or something dropping.
I always play a radio for them 24/7 now and they aren't nearly so skittish.

Some of the oddest things can upset a rabbit -- often to do with shape. I can't walk in the house carrying groceries or laundry bags without upsetting my little herd. They don't recognize my shape anymore. I've heard from people whose bunnies have been upset by the presence of a garbage bag sitting in their bunny room. Ceiling fans are another issue -- they can be seen as big bad birds. Or there actually could have been predators in the area. But it is usually an alarm or some kind, although hormonal issues and stress are also possible.

Your rabbit propably hears something outside or there is something bothering him in the room. In the wild, rabbits stomp their foot on ground to aleart other rabbits if danger is ahead. Don't worry, this is very normal for rabbits. Next time your rabbit does this, check outside your window or around the room. If you see something that a rabbit wouldn't like (for instance like a clock or a washing machine) think about moving the rabbit cage or move the object that you think is bothering your rabbit! I hope you find out what is bothering your rabbit soon!

He's probably trying to call a mate. Perhaps buying a female rabbit would calm him down. But you must have a seperate cage to put the male rabbit in, because when my friend's mom bred rabbits, the male attacked the babies.
