Not sure what you are wanting to know. Compost is an organic substance derived from decomposed organic material. This includes grass, food (no meats) and other materials you place in the compost pile.

It improves the texture of the soil & gives plants a balance of nutrients. It makes it easier to garden when compost is added because the soil is more workable...not hard or sticky. Soil drys out quicker & plant roots don't get waterlogged. This increases available oxygen for plant roots

Compost is the decomposed remnants of organic materials.
It's used in gardening and agriculture as a soil amendment, and commercially by the landscaping and container nursery industries. It is also used for erosion control, land/stream reclamation, wetland construction, and as landfill cover (see compost uses). Compost is also used as a seed starting medium generally mixed with a small portion of sand for improved drainage.
