Hey. Got to love the 80s questions. For me, I would have to say either New Wave or Hair Metal.
New Wave - The awesome one hit wonder "Pseudo Echo", Erasure with those chains of love and depeche mode who wanted us all to understand the policy of truth.
Hair Metal - My god, so many to choose from. If I had to narrow this (which you know is not easy), I would say Def Leppard (saw em in concert and man were they awesome), Bon Jovi who wanted us all to have a little Bad Medicine and finally Poison who wanted us all tot alk dirty to them.
Hope this answers your question, fellow 80s fan. :)

Some of the best 80's bands I like are a bit more Pop-Rock, but they had the tendency to explore other Genres. For example...The Police...Blondie.

POST PUNK/NEW WAVE/NO WAVE/UNDERGROUND! hands down! the underground was where it was at! all the metalheads were drunk and fighting at their shows, while we were jumpin' up and down and off eachother. it was a mess of cool and i miss it so much. music is soulless these days and it sucks for the new kids. newbs these days don't even bother with the old school, which is something even old schoolers know better...........always know your roots. while there is some GREAT METAL out there, there were so many underground bands, creating new subgenres every single year that went by, who'd already been operating for YEARS.....still love all of it!

i like countless the track from the 80's apart from a number of the overdue 80's stuff - specifically the acid domicile track, the inventory, aitken & waterman 'hits manufacturing unit' track, and rap track. i assume my common type might ought to be the early goth bands - sisters of mercy, fields of the nephilim, the project..... i in my opinion have a extensive gentle spot for a number of the greater huge-unfold bands of the mid 80's nevertheless. i grow to be a large fan of a-ha whilst i grow to be youthful, and different bands corresponding to that, like Then Jerico and Duran Duran.
