Personally I don't think they should have cancelled anything! The show should have gone on as planned. Benoit doesn't deserve much, if any respect as far as I am concerned! And for all that are saying that we don't know what happened yet... He murdered his family! Bottom line! All reports have said that he strangled his wife and then sufficated his son A FULL DAY before he hung himself in his weight room. How can you overlook that as an accident or someone else's doing?
The bottom lne is that he deserves no respect and the show should have gone on as planned!

Well, Benoit was a great contributor to the whole business of WWE and his dedication for the sport was undeniable. However, cancelling the whole show for a 3hour tribute was perhaps uncalled for. But he did deserve a tribute as he was a current WWE superstar who was serving the business actively (unlike Sensational Sherri, Bam Bam Bigelow) and I believe it is not our call to make opinions about his personal life and character and say whether or not he deserved it. Perhaps a tribute like the one to Eddie Guerrero would have been enough, though. Like you say, a tribute during the show, something like, dedicating all matches to him and his memory and showing clips of his career in between.

No. He was a current WWE wrestler and therefore needs a tribute show. Also they cancelled the show because it was on the day Benoit and his family were found and the wrestlers wouldnt want to compete. After Eddie Died no wrestlers wrestled. People care more about current wwe superstars than past ones like Mike Awesome and obsure ones like Bam Bam Bigelow.
As for his death there are loads of theorys and ill believe he killed his family when i see it confirmed by the Police.

That's funny I was just thinking about that too. What if like Elijah Burke died? Who is to say that someone is worth a three hour special and someone else isn't. What makes benoit different from the others is that Benoit (and owen hart when he died) was an active member of the organization.
Lets hold off judgment for now though on Benoit. Thats not really fair.

It did in fact do a tribute to Eddie G. as well as Owen H. Also, why would they do a tribue show to someone who wasn't even dead, that is terribly disrespectful. Actually it was disrespectful when Vince faked it anyway. So you are disrespecting Benoit. A man died, screw the storyline.

They did do a tribute to Eddie during a live show though. And if this is true about Benoit then I agree.

I disagree. You have no sense of respect. and Benoit _didn't_ kill them, nor himself. He was framed, plain and simple. And yes they DID do a tribute, and canceled the show, when Eddie Guerrero died. The whole day was paid in homage to Eddie that day, and a lot of people were in guilt. And the fake McMahon's death storyline was stupid anyway and wasn't working. I'm more than thankful that storyline is over, now they can bring something GOOD in.
But the 3 hour show was going to be there no matter what, it just went from a fake memorial to a REAL memorial. Benoit deserved the respect and admiration from every fan watching RAW that day.
And to show you why I think it's fake? Eddie Guerrero was found dead as well, in December of 2005, just two weeks before Survivor, in his hotel. They ruled it out as a "heart attack". Now Chris Benoit and his family are found dead in their home, just a day after Vengeance, and they're ruling it out as a "double murder-suicide". Not to mention both RVD and Shawn Michaels are out due to suffering legit (real) concussions. Unusual, much?

They had a tribute planned for Mr. McMahon, apparently McMahon himself felt the 3 hour slot was better deserved to pay tribute to one of the greatest wrestlers. If you even herd how Vince was talking when he walked out on stage, he knew the story was not near as important as the death of one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.

It had to do with timing. The show went on in Pillman's Hart's and Guerrero's cases because they all died a day or so before the Raw show, not the day OF the Raw show as in Benoit's case.
It will surprise me greatly if the SD taping and ECW show is canceled tonight, though.

I agree with you somewhat. They couldn't go on with the show but they could have just cancelled it and left it at that until the facts came out. Then if he would have been innocent then have that tribute for him. I think they just made a mistake based on heart rather than good judgment.
