It is really all about what kind of a learner you are. If you're an auditory learner (you learn best when you hear some information), you can listen to tapes of lectures from class, tape record yourself reading the correct answers and listen to it often, create a mnemonic device (a silly word or phrase that you can memorize to remind you of what the answer is, like in geograpy the word "homes" is a mnemonic device to memorize the 5 great lakes, Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, and Superior)etc. If you're more of a visual learner (you learn best by seeing/reading things), flash cards are a good way to learn information, or you can highlight certain passages or paragraphs in your textbook that have the most crucial info so you don't have to worry about the rest. Also, you might be the kind of person who absolutely needs background noise or music to study. NOt everyone does a good job studying in total silence. If you're feeling distracted, pull out your iPod and see if listening to some tunes at a low volume can help you focus.

Flashcards do help. You can keep studying the ones you are having trouble with and put the ones you know for sure aside.
You might also want to try reading your notes every night before going to bed. Believe or not some of that knowledge will sink in and it will not be as difficult to cram.
In the area of math about the only way you can study is to practice working problems.
Another technique that works for some people is to write the notes over in tiny print or multiple times.
I also know of a person that records themselves dictating the notes and listens to it during the night, while walking, or in the car.
There are many different techniques. You will have to find the one (or ones) that work for you and stick to it.

Flashcards, make up a song, create a study game..
I have the same problem as well. I easily get distracted so what I do is I try to make a rhyme of some sort to make it the slightest bit amusing when I need to memorize something. Sometimes I invite my friend over..since I get distracted enough without her..and we quiz each other. If you invite another friend, you could have like a gameshow or something with one being the host. It sounds lame, but it's much better than sitting there with your head buried in a book when it clearly is showing no effect. ;)

Believe it or not, flash cards really work. Repeat them over and over and it will sink in without even meaning too. Also, while you are writing them, it sinks in.
