Yeah, it's the same thing. The pagents are just owned by two different companies. That's all.

it's "miss universe" because they are all single ladies, never been married, and are from all over the world, i.e. universe.
I'm not sure about the miss world whether it's merely from a different company or if one just brings together ladies in general and the other brings contestants in from different states (after having won a title in their own state).
