Better starting pitching or better relief pitching? Is it the fact that the starting pitching (aside from Oswalt) is terrible that is making the overworked bullpen bad? Or does the bullpen just stink? They seem to be ok in the offense dept this year.

Bullpen help would be the biggest need. Outside of that, they need some consistency throughout their line-up. Berkman has just now slowly started warming up. Scott has not been playing to the level he was playing at the year before. They need a consistent third baseman as well. However, I outside of everything else, their biggest need is to either get better bullpen help or find someone to help the bullpen get their swagger back. They are flat out horrible right now and they are killing their team.

Look at the Yankees. They have an pretty good bullpen but in the early part of the year, Kei Igawa was sucky and the bullpen was overused. No pitcher ever got past 5 IP. It is the starting pitching since they cannot help the Astros except for Roy Oswalt. They should have kept Andy Pettite to be more consistent in the starting pitching. They couldn't get back Clemens.

Replacing the entire roster with the 1927 Yankees (as they were, not the current all-dead guys) wouldn't help the 2007 Astros. Other than Oswalt, they cannot pitch; other than Berkman, Lee, and Pence, they cannot hit. As soon as Biggio finishes Quest 3000, Purpura needs to start working the phones to sell what he can for whatever he can get.
