I loved so many of my teachers. I guess this is why I became a teacher. Mine was Mrs. Eason.

My favorite teacher's name was Mr. Brown ... he taught sophomore English at my high school He didn't 'want' to be an English teacher, he wanted to teach music, but they didn't need music teachers so they hired him to teach English ... and he did that for the 'rest of his teaching career' ... He was 'advertised' as being 'the meanest teacher in the school' but we soon learned that he was really 'the nicest' teacher ... but his classes taught all of us how to 'write well' and do it without MISTAKES ... and once we had gotten a 'congratulations' on a 'weekly essay' we didn't have to write another one, but could 'do anything we wanted' including help the ones who were 'still trying' to get that congratulations. I got my 'congratulations' on my second week ... I had made only one mistake on the first one, and the '50 words punishment' I wrote was PERFECT. I can still remember going into his classroom one day expecting a test, to find the desks all 'moved around' and the lights out, with Mr. Brown sitting at the piano, playing 'Christmas Songs' ... it was before Christmas, and he 'cancelled the test' because it was snowing outside ... we all sat in class, listened to the music, and watched the snow fall for that hour ... and I 'learned' from that man! I never became a teacher, but I did homeschool my own kids ... and they KNEW that when I sent them outside to 'measure the dirt' that they were 'learning math' in a way that they would 'know' what math was for, and why ...

my favorite teacher in high school was my business/accounting teacher, Mr Wurm. He was also the boys basketball coach at the time. He was fair to everyone and did not show any favortism with anyone, in the class room and on the court. He also really knew how to teach in a way that you could understand and if you did not he always took the time to help you.
God rest your soul, Coach Wurm! You were loved!

My 3rd grade teacher, Mr. Nola. He was freakin' amazing. He was this old school hippie who believed in teaching an appreciation of nature by hands on field trips & lessons. He was a great combination of creative, free thinking & teacher that is so rare these days.

Many aspects of my life have been molded by his teachings....

My math teacher in High School. He was a coach and as most people know coaches aren't the best classroom teacher. But this guy taught like he coached. Intense. I loved it.

At Mountain View High School, Mr. Gaffeney.
He cared to notice ones who were under-achievers, or otherwise not interested in learning and got in their faces with a "HEY THERE, TOAD!!" He was polite to the girls, but would throw an arm around the neck of some guy and start friendly banter with him. I always appreciated his concern and personal attention toward students.

Ms. Thomas because her way of teaching was fun. She made up songs for us to memorize to do well on quizzes and tests. For an example, we sung the core democratic values everyday. She teached 6th grade Social Studies.

Mine was my Geography/History/Physcology teacher, Mr. Graves. I had him for three years, and I couldn't stand him, then when I went back to high school to visit, and we chatted for a while. He was tough on me, but only to show me that I could always be better. I still go by that today. I am tough on my friends to show them that they can be better and they can work hard, even when they don't want to.

Mr. Bruce.
Instead of passing out history information, he could bring some small day to day detail to life that made it very exciting to learn.
