How can I become an Actress on Disney Channel?

I'am a 13 year old girl that lives in Florida. I really want to become an actress on Disney Channel and I don't know how to become one.How can I become an actress on Disney Channel?

Here's the deal, you need training & experience, then you need an agent to get you the auditions. You do not need a manager until you have a career to manage otherwise there goes another 15% of your check for no good reason.

My advice is to get yourself into some classes and workshops, particularly on camera and improv, and get into some student films and local theatre productions. Build yourself a resume then get an agent.

If you want to find a legitimate agent to represent you for commercials, TV & film go to Sag.org. Use the dropdown menu on the right labeled 'resources' and choose 'agent information'. On the next screen, on the left choose 'Find a SAG franchised agent' and follow the directions. Luckily there are studios in Florida so it's an ok place to start.

Then you can send them your headshot, resume (whatever you have at the time & be honest!), and a cover letter stating that you are seeking representation and wait to see if they call you in for an interview.

Once you have an agent, they will get you the auditions, but until then you can check out actorsaccess.com. You can also see if your state has a film alliance. Sometimes they post audition information for projects filming locally. For theatre, you can go to backstage.com or http://www.actorsequity.org/castingcall/... If you find the audition on the Equity site, you still may be able to go, as long as their not taking appointments from equity actor's only :-) On backstage.com you have to pay to get all of the info, but the initial search is free and you may be able to see enough info to find out the rest on your own without paying.

I agree with NewYorkGal, that website does not look the least bit legitimate. Stay away from that. The only audition info Disney ever posts on their own site is for positions at their amusement parks (regular jobs, face characters, parade performers, etc.) TV & film auditions always go through Breakdown Services and get sent to agents every morning.

Ugh, don't waste your talent on Disney. Thats what I wanted at 11, but i'm 13 and i'm going to do something meaningful. Disney Celebs are always dissed. There is no way you can be famous on Disney unless: Your extremely pretty/handsome. Your a singer. You have your own show. Everyone in Disney is heading over to slutville. I like Miley..but she isn't going in the right direction. Just wait and do something else. If you actually have talent you will make bigger things. Disney is shallow now...you just need to have looks. If you really want a kid network, go to Nickelodean. *EDIT* I would get at least 18, (thats what i'm doing) because if your a kid star then you are old news by the time your 20. & With Disney and Nick, you will never be taken seriously for other jobs, people will just see you as some kiddie star.

You could try and branch out into the community and do local plays, commercials, infomercials and print work.

Also, look in your local paper or in acting newspapers like Backstage or The Stage.

Once you have bulked up your resume, send that along with your headshot and cover letter to agencies. To find a list of SAG registered agencies in your area, look here:http://www.sag.org/sagwebapp/application...

After 4-6 weeks, an agency should contact you if interested, hopefully then everything will fall into place, you'll get auditions, bookings, showcases, etc.

Then, you'd work your way up the acting totem pole...And that's how you get on Disney Channel!

Don't let anyone ever tell you, you can't because you can!

do you have any acting experience? do you have an agent? those are things you need for any acting career. and not to destroy your dream but very few become disney channel actresses just because so many want to be there now. it takes hard work. without any experience and an agent your chances of acting anywhere are slim. and then you need to build a portfolio and have head shots. try to enroll in some local community plays or acting classes. then if you really become interested find an agent. then he/she can help you from there. good luck.

Hi,

the first thing that comes to mind after reading your question is, "Are you ready to audition for Disney?". The reason I ask is because there has been an onslaught of questions here recently by folks asking the same question. It seems that Disney is the place everyone wants to be.

Having said that, you know that the people already working there are trained professionals. Are you? If so, then I have a suggestion for you. There are many actors who are very, very good, but don't get seen and don't get a chance to audition for the casting directors they really want to audition for, because they don't have the business skills they need to be successful. And so, their talent goes unnoticed. What a shame. Really. I have a friend who was like that for a long time and now she is beginning to come around.

The first thing you need before you get to Disney is training. You need to that to be your first priority. Without training you will not go very far. Some actors are good enough to get the part, but did you know that actors can get fired too? This happens for many reasons, but one of them is, because they don't have the skill level required to keep the part and do all the things the director needs them to do.

You will also need four things that are of utmost importance. I train actors on these first four crucial steps that are often overlooked, because everybody wants a quick fix. 4) MANAGING YOUR BUSINESS: essential business skills that will help you to be successful as the free-lance professional that you are as an actor. Unfortunately many actors don't realize that they are in business, with a product to sell and promote, that is themselves.

Make sure you are prepared, so take classes and be the best you can be.

Study the industry, so you know what's going on.

Why settle for Disney channel? There's so many more things out there you could do. But like everyone else has said, you need an agent and a lot of experience. Start small and work your way up, it's about the only way to do it.

Disney puts their information on their website.

You need a lot of experience (Britney Spears was on Disney when she was a child.)

You need a Talent Manager, not an Agent.
You should have started acting when you were Britney's age.

Actors do NOT have portfolios, fashion models have portfolos NOT ACTORS. Geez! Actors use résumé's only!

All you need is a résumé of your acting work.

Yeah.. i know what you mean!
