Yeah I think you nailed it Niff....that was an optimistic number on their part...most everyone I know smokes...but I smoke Marlboro if that says anything about my standards..lol.

I think I might have the answer to your question Niffie !
Today, your survey is right ! Why because all of us
that are smoking said we were, which is true.
If it was asked at any other time, I might have said that
I was now a non-smoker because I had tried to quit again,
and that would have been true also. Right ?
So, what does that prove ? That smokers don't lie, it's just
that we're on again, off again.
Voila !
Hugs,

There could be a selection bias. People that read a question about smoking are more likely to respond if they have experience with smoking. I have experience with smoking, but only second-hand... and I have a very severe reaction to it, always have ever since I was a little kid.

Even if I read a survey that said 99.9999% of people are smoking, why aren't you? I still wouldn't smoke. Now if someone put a gun to my head and said "smoke it or die" I might change my mind...lol... but I don't think that will happen, so I'm safe. :)

no, youre not wrong
but take into account
you only polled 23

that number would be different when you get 200-5000 people becasue you are opening up a larger set of numbers which skews the average differently

The data is not faulty . Just the crossection you used. I wished you did not smoke but that 's your business .

I never trust the radio. But if it's in the newspaper, it must be true.
