Download the Free Network Magic and install on both PC's. This free app will let you monitor his surfing habit and more. Get it here : http://www.networkmagic.com/

You can not visually see what he is doing unless you have installed remote access software on both computers. Meaning yours and the laptop.

However you can view the files he has on his laptop with some work. You will need to set up a home network. This is realtively easy.

Then once the network is setup you will need to map his hard drive so that you can view his files. This gets a little difficult but it can be done in 20 minutes approximately.

I would contact your ISP and ask for thier assistance in setting up the home network. While you have them on the phone, inquire as to what parental controls they have in place and how you can "filter" unwanted websites from being viewed.

You could read up on using a packet sniffing program (like Ethereal), which would allow you to collect network traffic between the laptop and the internet.

Assuming you have physical access to the laptop, you could also install a keystroke monitoring utility which could see what's actually being typed in, take screenshots periodically, etc. This would be easier to detect though, a packet sniffer would involve just observing traffic coming from the laptop and wouldn't involve altering it.
