I need to know how much chlorine to add. And what other chemicals i need to add. Also does pool shock include chlorine. Any help would be great.

Pool shock is chlorine, unless you purchase a oxygen based type of shock.

You have approximately 1,200 gallons in this pool. You can add in 1/2 gallon of household bleach (non scented) to give you residual and instant chlorine. It won't last long so you will have to repeat the dose after 24 hours. This will clean the pool though and make sure it's sanitized and oxidized.

Drop me a line at robandliz1992@yahoo.com and we'll get you on a maintenance schedule that will keep your pool pristine and clean.

Pool shock might contain a tiny amount, but mostly it's concentrated acids.

The best way to deal with a pool is to call around to pool supply companies. I'd bet the first one you call will have a service where they'll test your water for you, and tell you how much chlorine, and other chemicals the pool needs to be balanced.

If you don't do that you should just get a tester, they only cost $5 and are pretty easy to use. They're not as accurate as the reading you'll get from the supply place.

I work at a pool and, especially if you don't know your pool well, start with a little bit and keep checking the chemicals till your chlorine gets to a 3 (It can be a 5 and still be safe, but no less than three) keep checking and adding until you get to that level. Record how much you've been adding and then you'll know from then on :)

Call a regular pool store and ask.

But I would expect the if you bought one of those regular pool floats where you put in a tablet of chlorine would be enough. Just take it out when you swim.

Oh and you don't need to shock unless you have algae.
