recently my oil gauge went thru the roof. The gauge pointer looks as if it could spin multiple times around if not for the stopper. They say I have to pay for the diagnostic before they do anything and it might not be covered because it could be an oil line what should I do?

Read your warranty first. All of this is in there somewhere. An oil line will not do this as I am assuming you are talking about an oil cooler line. These will not affect how your oil pressure is doing unless they are leaking so much that your motor does not have enough oil in it to produce any pressure. You are either having an oil pressure transducer internal problem, a wiring problem, or a fault inside the cluster. If the warranty covers sensors, wiring, or instrument cluster/modules then you have no worries. I would ask the dealer to explain what you have and don't have before you get going. Diagnostics are always part of figuring out what is wrong with something, but this should be included in the repair, so if warranty covers the part it should also cover the diagnosis. Sounds like you are dealing with a pissy kind of dealership and should go elsewhere anyways. Good luck.

like pohlman1369 said , the 100,000 mile warranty is for the 2007 vehicles...you didn't mention how many miles you have on your truck. factory warranty is 3years 36,000 miles which ever comes first.and if you are in the warranty period, you shouldn't have to pay for anything...
it is possible that your vehicle has that coverage, but only if purchased, as in (extended warranty).
if you have GM extended warranty. called (GMPP)general motors protection plan. the same applies as above. you will be responsible for the deductable ,if you have one...
if you have some other type of warranty, then the dealer is correct in charging you to diagnose the problem, because most warranty companies do not pay for diag.only the repair.

The 100,000 powertrain warranty did'nt come in effect untill 2007, If you have less than 36,000 miles in your Tahoe Chevrolet is responsible for 100% of this problem. Tell them you may have been born at night but not last night!

Take it to a different dealer. This one sounds like he's got his head up his ****. If you have a bumber to bumber warranty then you don't have to pay for squat (if at all) until AFTER they diagnose it and tell you what is wrong....

BTW... Sounds like a bad gauge cluster. They can have that replaced in one day.... cost them under $100

Speak to someone from GM, or go to a different dealer, that should be covered under the warranty

sounds fishy to me. try another dealer. and double check to make sure you have the 100,000 mile warranty. i believe that was only on 2007 models.
