They paid tribute to him. This is a crazed child killer we are talking about, not to mention the effect on his other two sons. Its as if WWE are saying, 'this is one of these bad things that happens in life, but lets not all forget he was a great wrestler'. Meanwhile there are innocent people on death row, who grew up in poverty and are the 'scum of the earth' SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON???

Or just maybe it is company guilt - front office - that they knew, but didn't do anything about his mental health issues because they wanted him on the road at the shows, etc.

This has probably already been said a dozen times, but I haven't read the other answers here yet, so I apologize in advance for repeating anyone's thoughts.

Bottom line: The fact that it was a double murder-suicide wasn't made public until about 10 pm last nite -- up until then, all anyone knew was Chris Benoit and his family were dead, and the initial shock and sadness over that news is entirely understandable -- I felt the same way.

Obviously this was after the RAW tribute had started, so the WWE was only reacting to the death of one of its superstars at the time -- and that reaction was completely appropriate.

Equally obviously, that 10 pm press conference changed everything and if RAW aired on Tuesdays instead of Mondays, I'm sure things would have been done much differently because of the details that emerged AFTER the tribute had already started.

I don't think there is anything strange about WWE's reaction at all --- they were saddened to lose a member of their family, then obviously repulsed by the information made available later on and quite rightly pulled all the tribute pages that had been part of the WWE website last night.

What's strange to me is some of the people posting here who claim to "love" Chris and want to find songs and poems to help them remember him. He was one of my favorities too, but now all I will remember is that he took two innocent lives - and one of them was a little boy who probably thought his daddy was a hero.

I also think it's strange that some are "romanticizing" this with comments like "now Chris is with Eddie." Excuse me folks, but I sincerely hope that's NOT true because Eddie doesn't deserve to be in the same place as a person who murdered his own little boy and his wife.

Well, first of all, the WWE did not know at the time that the tribute began that the police thought he was the one who killed the other two. All the WWE knew by the time the show began to air was that all three of them were found dead, not by gunshot wounds. Furthermore, if you watched the WWE you'd understand that Benoit was extremely highly respected and also respectful, a great athlete and person, and we are all shocked and confused as to why he would do something like this. Granted if he DID do it he definitely did not deserve a tribute show, but I think the WWE community/fans are just having a hard time believing he really did this. We keep hoping to hear that there is some other circumstance that could mean he didn't do it. Family was everything to that man, this makes no sense to me at all.

When they were planning the tribute all they really knew was the three of them had died. It hadn't been released to the apparent cause until about 10pm Atlanta time. Raw was still on the air. If you went on the website after Raw was over they had it on there that it was being ruled a murder-suicide. I'm sure had the had the information before hand, they would have paid tribute to him but it wouldn't have been 3 hours. It may have been a short segment and matches would still have gone on like they did for Eddie.

Dude the wwe knew as much as us last night. The wrestlers didn't know until us. What u don't want them to have a tribute to a great wrestler before they knew he killed his family. Get the facts.

Investigation is still going on for goodness sake!!! So don't go labeling him as a killer! No matter what may have happened he was a good wrestler so why should he not get tribute for the good that he did?

the show aired at 8 eastern ( 7 central ) and the details that it is a murder-suicide didnt get released till 10 pm... check the wwe web site and you will see that all they have of benoit now is the main story, they have deleted his superstar page and any referance to him other than the story.

I don't think they knew that he did it when the show started, because the statement from police that he was suspected murderer didn't come until 10:00 p.m. eastern time. It was too late, by then, to do anything about it.

I read on tmz just now that he strangled his wife on Sat., watched PPV with his son on Sunday and then smothered him and then hung himself on Monday! COWARD
