So, what is progressive about whining and complaining all the time, and not offering anything new? I thought progressive ment moving ahead or moving forward with thoughts and ideas to make things better for everyone. I don't hear that. I just hear complaining about Bush, about the war, about health care, the ozone etc with no one offering anything better. Calling yourselves progressive doesn't really mean anything if you are not offering anything. Somewhat like calling too many of todays republicans "conservatives" when in fact they are not at all. Your thoughts please.

To all of you so called "progressives." If you notice I was just asking, but instead you people do what you normally do...get defensive. I just wanted your definition of why you call yourselves this when indeed you are not.

The don't like to be called by their true name "socialists" If you have any sense you had better be afraid if they get elected.

we don't get anything done because SOMEONE vetoes our progress. The president should listen to the people and sign the laws about Stem cell research, Iraq, etc. and save the last bits of his legacy. And, quite frankly, you have no right to call us whiners, when you say "I just hear complaining about Bush, about the war, about health care, the ozone etc with no one offering anything better." WHINE WHINE WHINE! This isn't about Liberal-Conservative or Dem.-Rep., it's about facts and working together to make things work. Too many people think that, just beacuse someone else is considered different, that they are all the same and can never be worked with.

I agree 100 percent . Call it what you want, they are still just a whiny group of people that can do nothing but complain because their person isn't in office. Bush has not 'ruined' the Country. Bush has has made mistakes but at least he has the backbone and will to stick to a plan . The immigration issue is a sore spot for me but what are Progressives' answers to this?
You are telling me they are going to fix the problem? Instead of having them here for Corporate greed purposes they will be here for humane reasons and they still will not be sent back. Libs never have an answer because if they had a real answer they would be happy and satisfied . And as long as their are people going to work and criminals are in prison , no Liberal will ever be happy .

You're quite right (no pun intended). The democrats are somewhat oppressed from power, for the time being, and have no other recourse but to complain about everyone else in power right now. Like an angry child with nothing left to throw except a ping-pong ball. The only solid idea I've heard from the Dems lately, is they want to increase taxes by 40 billion dollars. Can't wait to get behind that one. They would also like to increase taxes on U.S. businesses. There go more jobs overseas. And heck, let's just open up our borders too so that illegals can use up three dollars in entitlements for every one dollar paid in by taxes.

As some have pronounced, the extremists interior the Republican social gathering (permit's get rid of Social secure practices, income taxes, the branch of training, healthcare of any type) make the Democrats look average.

This is quoted directly from the Houghton Mifflin Thesaurus (I put certain "words of interest" in ALL CAPS):
"progressive
adjective
1. Ahead of current trends or customs: advanced, forward, precocious. See precede/follow.
2. Not narrow or conservative in thought, expression, or conduct: broad, broad-minded, LIBERAL, open-minded, tolerant. See attitude/good attitude/bad attitude/neutral attitude, wide/narrow.
3. Favoring civil liberties and social progress: LIBERAL, LIBERALISTIC. See politics.
noun
A person with LIBERAL political opinions: LIBERAL, LIBERALIST."
Their words, not mine. I'll just let them speak for them self. Also, I must say that I do agree with you about many of today's Republicans not being true conservatives.
Edit: Just to make myself clear (in case it went over your head), I was trying to make a point in response to your original question: "Dems and liberals calling themselves 'progressives'?" Liberals aren't just "calling" themselves progressives. We ARE progressives.

They have to add something to their name to prevent them from being identified with the last century of them doing nothing to help us.
They're still not doing anything... but they're doing it progressively!

Liberal is a much better word from my prospective.
"Progressive" simply reminds me of their chipping away, and progressive plan of the destruction of morality and of America itself. What else are they "progressing" too other than socialism, abandonment of Judeo/Christian morality, and the sale of the sovereignty of America?
The word "liberal" to me has much better connotations.

The civil rights movement was nothing? The New Deal was nothing? The environmental and women's rights movements were nothing? Joke, right?
