If you want a good anti virus I suggest you to use:

*Paid:
1. Kaspersky Antivirus 6.0
2. BitDefender 9 Standard
3. F-Secure Anti-Virus 2006
*Freeware
1. AOL Active Virus Shield - http://www.activevirusshield.com/
2. Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic - http://www.free-av.com
3. Avast! 4 Home Edition - http://www.avast.com

I would not suggest to use AVG 7.5 Free for it's low detection rate found here: http://tech.yahoo.com/blog/null/5244 although its anti-spyware works great. Active Virus Shield is the best cause it has the same virus detection rate as Kaspersky which is one of the best-selling antivirus.

Well norton is a decent antivirus. I would suggest Spysweeper with antivirus. I'm an IT professional and its what we use in our department. But what you should do is make sure your virus definitions are up to day on your nortons. If you want to go beyond that. reformat your drives and before you connect to the internet make sure your antivirus software is up-to-date and virus definitions are current.

I like Avast as well. It is important to have virus software that is updated continuously, and Avast will do that for you. It is free for home users.
