You say it becomes difficult to start, but you don't say in what way. Is it turning over ok, but just not starting or is it turning over slow.

If it's turning over ok, check to make sure that the choke isn't closing. If the choke is staying open ( like it should be ), try pulling the throttle lever back one time and then back almost, but not quite to the idle position. Try starting it without touching the throttle. If it starts, the gas is evaporating from the carb and you just have to be careful not to flood it when you try to start it.

If the choke is closing, check the linkage from the choke to the choke heat riser. If that is ok, it's time for a new choke heat riser or manual choke.

If it's turning over slow, The starter may be getting weak or too hot, or the engine may be getting too hot or the timing might be off just a couple of degrees. Or the battery might be weak.

First, remember gas is flammable. Remove the Spark Arrestor (Air Filter) and see if the choke has opened up. May be able to spray around on the carb linkage with some carb cleaner and it start working.
The other is in the distributor, if, it electronic. It may be the Coil that around the shaft, have to pull the distributor to remove. Auto Zone gives some test information on a lot of this stuff you just need to search. Just use the year model and say it for a Truck.
If, it have points you may check the Condenser/Capacitor and replace it. It not expensive and most likely find one in a junk yard from a Wrecked Vehicle!!! If it wrecked, it was running at the time.

sounds like a vapor lock to me. try using the blower for 3 or so minutes before trying to restart.
