A wire-bottomed cage is NOT the best thing for a rabbit! It causes sore hocks! If sore hocks go untreated, the bone in the hock can be exposed! But yes, CareFresh is wonderful. Do not use carpet (rabbits love to ingest carpet and send you to the VEC with an impaction) or wood shavings. You are on the right track.
BTW, diet should be mostly timothy hay (keeps teeth worn down ) with a few tablespoons of high quality pellets. No sugary treats such as carrots or fruit, which can completely mess up the digestive tract.

Kat is right. A wire floor is best for them IF the breed of the rabbit is not too large put on a wire floor without the wire hurting their feet due to too much weight.
If the adult weight of your rabbit is 11 pounds or less, then it can be kept on a wire floored cage. If it is 11 pounds or more, then it needs a solid floored cage and bedding.
From what I've read up about CareFresh bedding. It looks like it would be a good bedding. However shredded paper or wood shavings could probably do just about as well.
My favorite rabbit bedding to use is ground up corn cobs. It is very absorbant and helps reduce odor. I would think that you could get ground up corn cobs at a fraction of the cost and they'd do basically every bit just as good.
Wire floored cages are better because the reduce the rabbits chances of getting coccidiosis, getting stained, and getting fur mites or other parasites in the fur or ears. It allows the pen to be kept cleaner, thereby reducing the chance of disease. Solid floors can harbor coccidiosis for years and make it easier for the rabbit to eat its feces and get coccidiosis. Bedding can contain mites or fleas that can affect your rabbit.

im an exotics vet tech...you can use carefresh, its very safe for bunnies, also u can use yesterday's news, both of these are soft and cushiony for bunnies, theyre made from recycled papers and whatnot. also, if they eat it, its not harmful. you can also try timothy has as bedding.....that too is soft for their feet (u dont want them to get sores on the bottom of their feet from hard surfaces). stay away from cedar chips or pine chips, these have oils in them, which give that purfumey nice smell, rabbits dont like it, and it can be harmful to be inhaled all the time. at our hospital, when rabbits are either boarding or hospitalized, we use care fresh in litter pans, with timothy hay, and line the whole cage with soft cushiony towels (but if u dont feel like cleaning towels all the time) stick with what i told u. good luck....and rabbit Qs feel free to contact me at any time. surfkitten79@aol.com

Actually there is really no bedding that is best for rabbits. The best thing for them is a wire bottomed cage. Carefresh is ok though and I know a lot of people that use it for pet rabbits and prefer it.
