It can cause skin cancer. UV ray exposure increases the risk of skin cancer. Some scientists suggest that the skin will gradually adapt to higher UV-B levels as the ozone gradually depletes (Nilsson, 83). The opponent to this theory would state that the thinning of the ozone layer would lead to more human UV-B exposure. This increased UV-B exposure would, in turn, increase the damage to the DNA making it difficult for the cell to correct the damage before it divides. This damage accumulates over time and increases the chances that a cell will turn cancerous. In addition, since UV-B radiation damages the immune system, it is much more likely that a cell will turn cancerous.

The ozone layer is not subject to anthropogenic meddling. Its opacity to solar deep ultraviolet light has naturally fluctuated since the International Geophysical Year, 1957-8.

Ozone destruction is a multistep heterophase reaction at near cryogenic temperatures occuring in the stratosphere. Ozone formation is a nearly instantaneous gas phase reaction requiring only deep UV light, occuring at any altitude. It is inconceivable that a crippled tortoise could outrace a hare driving a Lamborghini Countach.

Ozone helps in filtering the ultraviolet rays, and so less ozone means more UV rays reaching earth and increased skin cancers, cataracts etc. are the results.

the ozone layer, is like a shield that protects us from too much sun. It protects the earth, like a blanket, from harmful radiation. If it gets smaller, there will be nothing to protect us, and the sun can do serious damage to us.
