The family and I are driving from Maryland to Walt Disney World and we like to sight-see, so we were looking for activites to do like ride a ferry. We think that the kids will enjoy it.

Are you thinking of the Auto train operated by Amtrak? It goes from outside Washington DC (Lorton, VA) to Stanford, Florida. You take the kids, the bags and the car on the train and off you go. Nice way to do it and have your car there when you arrive.

Here is a link for you to get further information:

The only passenger ferries on your way to Florida are the ones in NC's Outer Banks - the Ocracoke Ferry is one of them.

You're not going to get to FL from the Outer Banks unless you take the ferry back.

I don't think you need a ferry in Georgia; if you're talking up around Chesapeake Bay, I don't know.
There is a ferry from St. mary's Georgia to Cumberland Island, Ga. but it's not to get you to Florida.
