To echo the answers from above, if you have to pay then it's a scam. If they approached you in a place like the mall, it's a scam. Agents have hundreds of headshots sent to them on a daily basis, they do not need to go scouting for people to drag into this business. There are plenty of people knocking down their door to get in.

If you want to find a legitimate agent to represent you for commercials, TV & film go to Sag.org. Use the dropdown menu on the right labeled 'resources' and choose 'agent information'. On the next screen, on the left choose 'Find a SAG franchised agent' and follow the directions. You can look up agents all over the US, but there are higher concentrations where the work is (Los Angeles, NY, IL, FL, GA etc.)

Then you can send them your headshot, resume, and a cover letter stating that you are seeking representation and wait to see if they call you in for an interview.

Once you have an agent, they will get you the auditions, but until then you can check out actorsaccess.com. You can also see if your state has a film alliance. Sometimes they post audition information for projects filming locally. For theatre, you can go to backstage.com or http://www.actorsequity.org/castingcall/... If you find the audition on the Equity site, you still may be able to go, as long as their not taking appointments from equity actor's only :-) On backstage.com you have to pay to get all of the info, but the initial search is free and you may be able to see enough info to find out the rest on your own without paying.

Good luck!

Talent 6

If they approach you, odds are very high that it is a scam. If you were in a professional production, and were approached after giving an amazing performance, then perhaps they are legit.

To find lots of legit agents, visit http://www.sag.org

These will be Screen Actors Guild franchised agents, and all of them will be legit (though some will be higher quality than others)

There are other legit agents that are not SAG franchised. Usually, the state will license talent agents, and you can get a list from the state licensing office.

With a name like Talent 6, it's probably a scam.

Most legitimate Talent Agencies, use their own name for their agency. Go to bbb.org and see if there are complaints against them.

Perform in plays and invite talent agencies to see the productions.

If they like your work in the play they "may" call you for an interview.

I haven't heard of it-but if they charge you money up front, there's a good chance it's a scam. Check the phonebook or online for local talent agencies, and schedule an appointment for an audition.
