The two best to write about are Nietzche and Sartre for several reasons.

N. was the first confirmed existentialist while Sartre was the last.

There is an extreme difference between the two. N. was in favor of a person throwing up their hands since life has no meaning while S. believed that man could make his life better through action.

Try Kierkegaard vs. Nietzsche. Faith vs. Atheism in existential thought.

but Sartre is smartre

Actually these guys are all good. Read 'em and decide for yourself. That would be a good start down the road to existentialism.

You could compare Nietzsche and Simone de Beauvoir, what they thought about existentialism and how the both wrote about it and how it applied to their philosophies.

If you put existentialsim into wikipedia, it will give you philosophers of that school and who influenced and was influenced by them.

Hope that helps a little.
