I have been using this method for about six months and it has worked just fine, but people keep warning me you can get pregnant this way. Has anyone ever gotten pregnant this way?

It worked for me for 4 years, although in that time we forgot the pull out part probably 5-6 times :-) That is the biggest risk.
In reality its not that easy to get pregnant - if your are aware of when you ovulate you will know when to be careful, what times to avoid. Family planning IS possible as long as you are mindful, and always prepared that there is a small chance of pregnancy. Then again there is a small chance whatever contraception you use.

I cannot use most condoms due to alergies, and I cannot take the pill because of hormonal issues.....

I've been using the pull out method for over a year (this is the slot of time where everyone is allowed to scream at me....)

I am not pregnant, nor have I ever been. I am just 'lucky' or well maybe 'unlucky'. If we were to get pregnant it would make our lives, though we are not actively trying for a baby.

If you DON'T want a baby right now, please be smart and use some protection. Some is better than none, and none includes pulling out.

Don't listen to my stats because 80% of couples using no protection become pregnant within the first year.

Yes. I know other people that have as well. It is an extremely unreliable method and you should consider an alternative method. If you do not want to take birth control or use condoms, there are natural alternatives that are much more effective than the pull-out method. (Oh, and when I say "natural" I don't mean counting the days in your cycle either. That isn't very reliable.)

The pull-out "method's" effectiveness relies heavily upon 100% proper usage. Even with proper usage ever single time, it has a failure rate of 4%, that's pretty high. Now, more accurately, with couples who aren't 100% accurate 100% of the time (this is where the majority of couples fall), the failure rate is between 15%-28%. You might as well not use any preventative measures at all with that rate!

Pre-ejaculate contains sperm. The amount of sperm is up for debate. In any event, your partner cannot feel the release of pre-ejaculate, and thusly can't prevent it. I would suggest using an alternate form of birth control if you really want to prevent pregnancy. Best of luck.

I would go to a pharmacy, and talk to a Dr about the morning after pill. It may be embarrassing but well WELL worth it. I am no doctor, but something tells me a small ammount of seamen can get you pregnant easily. The pullout method is very dangerous and he could have been going before he even knew it. And for him to even mention it, chances are he got some in there.

I had at one point tried that method before my 1st child and withing a year had gotten pregnant. I mean it's not really reliable if you really want to prevent getting pregnant.

I would suggest another method of contraception. I currently have a IUD (intra uteurine device), non-hormonal.

I have gotten pregnant this way. Me and my fiance used it for over a year and last janurary it finally caught up with me and I got pregnant. If you don't want to get pregnant go get birth control. I am on it now and we still pull out for just a little extra protection.

Seriously.....if your having unprotected sex, get on the pill or the shot or the patch. "Pulling out" doesnt always work, one of these times he will pull out too late, or not at all just because it feels sooooooo good. You cant compare the feeling of a unsheethed vs a rubberized penis. Im sure many women agree its awesome, but if you dont want to get pregnant atleast put a cap on it for now untill you can get something else.

Not very reliable.

It is good if you are trying to space your children apart and really don't care if you get pregnant or not, but if you really don't want to get pregnant use a different method.

I used spermicide inserts. They are also not supposed to be very reliable but I never got pregnant until we stopped using it (and wanted the pregnancy, 12 weeks along now).

But again, I used spermicide (even though they are not supposed to be that reliable) because we did not really care if we got pregnant or not, we were just trying to space things out.

Yes, I know several people who have gotten pregnant this way. It is not birth control at all. Use another method of BC.
